Monthly Gift Highlights

We are pleased to highlight a few of the gifts and pledges received during September 2005:
  • The Dr. Leopold T. and Michelle Avallone Endowed Scholarship Fund for UCSF School of Medicine students has been created with a $125,000 gift from the Avallones. Leopold Avallone is a graduate of the UCSF School of Medicine, Class of 1965.
  • A final distribution of $472,000 from the estate of Eloise Cherry has been received, bringing the total bequest to $739,000. This gift is directed to the UCSF Medical Center at Mt. Zion.
  • A final distribution of $215,000 from the estate of Rudolf Hurtig has been received, bringing the total bequest to $715,000. This donation will benefit the UCSF Medical Center at Mt. Zion.
  • A $1.78 million gift from the estate of Loretta Lamperti will benefit students and researchers at the UCSF School of Medicine. The Loretta, Angelo, and Sophie Lamperti Medical Fund will provide grants, scholarships, and/or financial aid to medical students and medical researchers.
  • A gift of $100,000 from Mary Ann Tonkin through the Jewish Community Federation will support the Tonkin Cancer Research Fund for Melanoma at the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center.
