The San Francisco Bay swim benefits the Survivors of Childhood Cancer Program at UCSF Children's Hospital and the Children's Center for Cancer Research at Children's Hospital Oakland. Last year the SF Bay event raised more than $220,000 to support these programs.
Swimmers will ride the "San Francisco Spirit" from Pier 9 to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, a great scenic tour of the bay with time to bond with friends old and new, then jump in under the Golden Gate Bridge, a dramatic and unique entry point rarely experienced.
Participants will head into Crissy Field Beach, a total of 1.5 miles, depending on the tides. Those not wanting to swim the full 1.5 mile course can opt for the .5 mile course, jumping from the boat closer to Crissy Field Beach. The morning concludes with a celebration at Crissy Field Beach.
